pneumatic hoses screeching
and blowing off steam

Smells of Plaza horses,
garbage trucks

Homeless,
Those rifling through black plastic bags
huddles on street curbs
for cans, uneaten bread heels,
potato, orange, banana peels,
the unused butt-ends of moldy lettuce heads
